Recent Projects

A selection of recent work with Inuit organizations and governments. Each project brought together people with different mandates who needed a plan they could act on or a dispute they could put to rest.

Nunavut Tunngavik Inc.

NTI brought me on as lead advisor and writer for the Nunavut Inuit Climate Action Plan, the first unified climate plan for Nunavut Inuit. The plan needed agreement between NTI and the three Regional Inuit Associations, each with its own mandate and priorities. I designed and facilitated the process that brought them to one vision and left NTI with a clear mandate in Inuit-led Climate Action. I also advised policy approaches and on the governance structures Inuit will use to carry the plan forward. Guidance from Elders and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit shaped the work throughout.

Inuit Circumpolar Council Canada

ICC Canada engaged me to write a practical guide for Inuit delegates attending UN climate negotiations. The toolkit explains how the UNFCCC process is organized and shows delegates where and how they can put Inuit priorities in front of negotiators. It is written for people who carry deep knowledge of Inuit Nunangat and need a clear read on a process built around nation states. I also attended COP29 in Baku with ICC and supported its work in the Indigenous Peoples Caucus and the Facilitative Working Group.

Nunavut Tunngavik Inc.

Through the National Inuit Climate Change Committee, Canada asked Inuit to define how federal climate funding should reach their regions. NTI needed a single position for Nunavut that all three regions would stand behind. I ran a planning workshop with NTI and then led consultation sessions with the Qikiqtani, Kivalliq and Kitikmeot Regional Inuit Associations in their home communities. I wrote the resulting submission, which set out a ten-year funding model for Nunavut Inuit and a joint climate committee with the Government of Nunavut and Canada. NTI delivered it to Canada in 2024.

Inuit Climate Leadership Agenda

I’ve had the privilege of working with Matthew through his consulting work with Earth Resolve Solutions. He is brilliant then, and brings insight, professionalism, and heart to everything he does.

Matthew is a deeply knowledgeable climate expert with a strong grasp of global dynamics and local realities. His ability to manage complex projects with clarity and precision is matched by his exceptional communication skills and unwavering reliability. What sets him apart, though, is his genuine commitment to Indigenous leadership - he consistently uplifts Inuit voices and ensures our perspectives are central to the work.

Beyond his technical strengths, Matthew is a kind and thoughtful ally. He brings warmth and encouragement to every interaction, and his support - whether through words or actions - makes a real difference. Working with him has been just as inspiring and empowering, and I’m grateful to continue collaborating with someone so dedicated and impactful.
